Consistently rated one of the best courses in the world, this majestic course, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, has some top-class courses to give you an enjoyable challenge. The Ballybunion Golf Club is a golf club in County Kerry, Ireland. Founded in 1893 by Colonel Bartholomew, the club experienced financial problems before they barely opened their doors and were saved with an investment from him 9 new holes promptly laid out. Tom Watson has left a lasting mark on Ballybunion. The Irish course, considered one of the finest links courses in the world, had its reputation grow over time even though it was located off Ireland's southwest coast and could not be selected for many top championship events. Still there were some players that found their way to this famed golf course - Tom Watson being one such example who first visited back in 1981.[1] In 1995 he remodeled Ballybunion into what exists today after his return from America where he won two British Opens and five PGA Championships with an amazing record of winning more than 80 tournaments worldwide including 11 majors before retiring at age 59 due to health reasons.
