Merit Club was founded with the aim to create a space that would allow fans of this game meet up, play together and enjoy it in an environment where they could feel inspired. Bert Getz Sr ensured Meritclub always had its conservation easement for nature preservation as well because he knew how important preserving properties like these were- so without him around today we wouldn't have any golf courses left! **A little history:** The Merit Club was founded in 1983 after Bert and Ed Oldfield became friends. The 320-acre course opened for play four months before President George H W Bush hosted Japanese Prime Minister Kiichi Miyazawa during his visit marking celebration which has since come to symbolize what makes this place great; bringing together people from all walks of life while striving each day towards something greater than themselves so it can be called “meritorious."
